DENNIS, MS – Hester South Sartain, 89, died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Traceway in Tupelo. She was born in Paden, MS to Willis Byram and Eliza Francis Shackelford South. She was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and attended St. Luke Methodist Church while living in Tupelo.

Services will be Sunday, September 24, 3:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Thompson of Saltillo and two grandchildren, Alex Thompson of Saltillo and Brad Sloan of New Albany.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Sartain; her parents; her son, Ronald Sartain; her son-in-law, Walter E. Thompson; a grandson, Patrick Thompson; and her brothers and sisters, Melvin South, Gertie Byram, Lorene Gortney, Nellie Deaton, Ilene Green and Margie Stevens.

Visitation will be Sunday, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
