Chuck, the son of Elmer Lee and Beatrice (Humphreys) McFarland, was born of September 6, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Chuck was united in marriage with Shirley R. Hobbs on August 6, 1966 in Des Moines. Chuck worked as a sales representative for the Clark Oil and Refining Company for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He and Shirley had also owned an Antique Shop in Oskaloosa and enjoyed traveling to Antique Shows and Flea Markets. They made their home in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois before moving to Newton in 2001.
Those left to honor Chuck's memory are his wife, Shirley of Newton; son, Steven McFarland of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his sisters, Bonnie Nelson of Newton, Sharon Laurenti of Illinois, and Karen Warehime of Colorado; special friends, Jan and George Clark of Newton and their family; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward McFarland; sisters, Rule Cole, Beulah Anderson, and Dorothy McFarland; and his brothers, Edward, Lee, Donald, Richard, and Jerry McFarland.
