Aledo, Feb. 9. - Herbert Marquis of Aledo died Tuesday while on the way from Medford, Ore., where he had been spending a few weeks with relatives, to Los Angeles, Cal., where he expected to enter the hospital for an operation. He had been ill for about two months and the hospital treatment was thought necessary, so he had started, accompanied by his sister and brother, but he was unable to make the journey and passed away at Oakland, Cal. His body will be taken to Los Angeles to his brother's home and short services will be held before their journey to Aledo, where he will be laid to rest. The death of Mr. Marquis was a great shock to his brothers, C.K. and Grant Marquis, of Aledo, and to a large circle of friends by whom he was held in high esteem. The arrangements for the funeral will not be made until further word concerning their arrival in this city is received.
