Edgar Bear received a message Saturday morning of the death of his father, Frank Bear, at the government hospital at Pawnee, Okla. Edgar left for Pawnee immediately. Edgar is a grandson of Mrs. Carrie Bluejacket of this vicinity where he made his home part of the time.

Bear Rites
Funeral services for Frank Bear, full-blood Shawnee Indian, were held Monday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Mary Fritz, at White Oak. Burial was in the tribal burying ground in the White Oak hills. He was the father of Edgar Bear of this district, and step-father of Mrs. Winona Hollandsworth. He is survived by several other relatives of this community. The tribal rites were held Wednesday morning at the which time the great feast was held. The feast is an Indian custom which is observed for all full-bloods.

Mrs. Amy Peacock, Mrs. Carrie Bluejacket and Edgar Bear, of this district, and Mrs. Ida Holden of Quapaw, Mrs. Flora B. Hendricks of Miami, returned Wednesday from White Oak, where they attended the funeral rites and tribal feast of a relative, Frank Bear. They were accompanied home by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bear of Dulcie, N. M., who will visit here a while before returning home.
