Pat attended Elmira College, majoring in business. She worked at GBS and then set up her own tax business. She used her accounting skills as head of St. Luke's Cemetery committee for many years.
She married Willard Saar on January 18, 1952. They moved to Olney, MD where they raised their 3 children, Bill, Doug and Gretchen. Pat lived in the family home until her death. Willard "Bill" predeceased Pat in 2013. She had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pat enjoyed sports and classical music. She was always involved in helping others.
Pat and her family were originally members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Derwood. They became members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church when the two churches merged. Pat's involvement in church activites is legendary, and her strong faith inspired many.
