Merl Griebel, 90, Stockton, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, at Hays Medical Center.

Mr. Griebel was born April 14, 1907, on a farm in rural Stockton to Phil and Edith (Sutton) Griebel. He was a lifelong Rooks County resident. He graduated from Webster High School and attended Ft. Hays State University. He married Eva Ruth Evans on June 12, 1930 in Hays.

He was a farmer, member of Stockton United Methodist Church, and former member of the Farm Bureau and Co-op boards, both of Stockton, and the Hill City FHA board.

Survivors include his wife, Eva of the home; a son, John of Stockton; a daughter, Mary Ann Peaslee of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton 67669, the Rev. Tim Ault-Duell officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Stockton Public Library.
