In 1990, Artie began her career as a realtor earning several designations including Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Graduate of the REALTOR Institute, and Certified Residential Specialist. She was awarded the Outer Banks Realtor of Year in 1996 and in 2015, the Outer Banks Association of Realtors Career Achievement Award. Through the years, she served on various local and state committees including the First Flight Commission all while being a pillar and business owner in her community. A member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Artie also received recognition from the Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Artie is survived by two daughters, Sanfra Ange Foshee (Craig) of Madison, MS and Harla Kay Ange (Sandi Whitehead) of Roanoke, VA; two granddaughters, Shane Foshee of Nashville, TN and Shelley Foshee Hughes (Whit) of Madison, MS; and three great-grandchildren, Phillip Hughes, Paxton Hughes, and Presley Hughes.
Along with her husband and parents, Artie was preceded in death by two brothers, Lt. Col. Ed Bass and Leonard “Poss” Bass.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Twiford Colony Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Cribb officiating. A graveside committal will follow at 2:00 pm at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dare Hospice, PO Box 669, Manteo, NC 27954.
