Herbert J. Quirk, age 83, of 1215 S. 35th Street, Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, June 14, 2001, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Concelebrating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Ronald Reimer and the Rev. David Cooper with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

He was born June 7, 1918, in Cato, son of the late William and Emma Miller Quirk. Herb was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. On Aug. 7, 1943, he married the former Catherine Cooper at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Herb was in the automobile business in the Manitowoc area for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and T.P.A.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Quirk; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Liz Quirk; a daughter and son-in-law, J'Ette and Keary Getter, all of Manitowoc and two grandson, Matthew and Jason Quirk. Also surviving are nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip; a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Margaret Quirk; a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Joseph Trainor and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roy and Emma Cooper, Floyd and Harriett Cooper, Earl and Olive Cooper, Isabel and Ed Siefert, and Everett and Hilda cooper.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Herb was an avid camper and loved to hunt, fish and do woodworking. He also loved to play cards with his family.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
