Kenneth Daniel Mathias, Jr., age 81 of Sykesville, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at his home. Born July 11, 1936 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Kenneth Daniel Mathias, Sr. and the late Natalie Gladys Martin Mathias. He was the husband of the late Beatrice Ann Mathias, who died in 2014.

He had served with the U.S. Marines from 1953-1957. He had been an iron foundry coremaker and had worked at both Flynn and Emrich and Bethlehem Steel . Ken had also retired from Carroll County Public Schools. He enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Kendra Ann and Charles "Chuck" Lindenberg of Eldersburg, Danielle Marie and Don Yates of Sykesville, and Michaelle Lee and Douglas Fountain of Sykesville, grandchildren Tyler Conaway and his wife Kate, Todd and Tayla Lindenberg, Karah, Kristin Karlie and Kelli Yates, and Daniel and Natalie Fountain, and great granddaughter Charlotte Quinn Conaway. He was predeceased by his siblings Ronald Leroy Mathias and Jean Lois Bellusci.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Donna Renn officiating. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
