Dirk was born June 3, 1958, in Bismarck, ND, to Paul and Donna (Glovich) Hausauer. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1976 and continued on to receive his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Mary. Dirk went on to work as a stockbroker until he found his true calling of coaching, mentoring, and teaching.

He married Brenda Hay on Aug. 3, 1984. Together they had three children, Josh, Nikki, and Drew. Dirk and Brenda were currently members of Inspire Family Fellowship Church.

His love for sports began at a young age. As an athlete and a coach, he was involved in several different sports with baseball and football being his favorite. His career included several championships; however, his passion was bringing out the best in every athlete on and off the field.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He particularly enjoyed family gatherings where his wit, charm, and sarcasm made everyone feel loved and welcomed. In the last few years he found fishing which brought him peace and enjoyment. Dirk is survived by his wife, Brenda; his son, Josh (Melissa), and their children Jaxon and Caden of Otsego, MN; his daughter, Nikki (Andy) Lutz of Minneapolis, MN; his son Drew (fiancée Caitlin Threadgold) of Bismarck, ND; his sister, Karla (Paul) Pinks of Mandan, ND; his brother, Dan (Sue) of Bismarck, ND; his brother-in-law, Nick Hay of Minneapolis, MN; his sister-in-law, Laurie (Bill) Rowe of Riverdale, ND; his brother-in-law, Kevin (Jackie) Hay of Bismarck, ND; his “second mom”, Monona Jackson of King City, OR; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Dirk was welcomed into the Kingdom of God by his parents, Paul and Donna Hausauer; his parents-in-law, Oscar and Carmen Hay; and his “second father”, Red Jackson.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials will be given to various athletic charities in memory of Dirk.
