Elma Owens Johnson, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 with her three daughters by her side. She was born on February 9, 1927 in Panguitch, Utah to Sarah Malinda Shakespear and Ernest V. Owens. She married Arden Ford Johnson on October 10, 1952 and they were sealed 10 years later in the Saint George Utah LDS temple. Arden passed away two years ago on October 22, 2015 after 63 years of marriage.
Elma was a gentle and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and was an avid Utah Jazz fan. She also loved to read, especially the newspaper, which she read faithfully every single day. Her very favorite pastime was playing Skipbo, which she played every possible chance she could.
Elma is survived by her three daughters: Annette (Tom) Robertson of Sacramento, California; Diane (Wayne) Fairbanks of Orem, Utah; Carol (Larry) Anderson of Lindon, Utah; 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. She leaves her family a legacy of loyalty and strength, and we are certain she is enjoying a wonderful reunion with her husband, Arden, and her son, Bruce.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the LDS chapel in Kanab, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be immediately after the service at the Kanab City Cemetery.
