From his brother, Holland St. John - "Robert was born on 5 Aug 1927 in Okanogan, Okanogan County, Washington, the son of Lewis and Edna (Jones) St John. His siblings included his older brother Scott and his younger brother Holland. After attending all twelve grades in the Okanogan school system, he joined the Army Air Force and was assigned to the Counter Intelligence Corps. After an honorable discharge, he attended Eastern Washington University. It was here that he met and married Jean Marie Stanley on 8 Apr 1951. The couple had three children: Christine, Constance and Steven. Upon graduation from EWU, he began his thirty years in the field of education, teaching first in Richland, WA in 1952 and ending as Director of Counseling Services at Wenatchee Valley College located in Wenatchee, Washington. Bob was active in community life serving in the Scouting program, Lion's Club, Eagle's Club and leadership roles in several professional organizations. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities with his family. His retirement years were filled with fishing trips to Alaska and the Pacific coast, interaction with his grandchildren, and maintaining his extensive yard and flower beds. Always a keen interest in genealogy, the history of the Okanogan valley, and after years of research, Bob, with his younger brother, published two chronicles featuring both sides of his family. He became ill on the day of his ninetieth birthday, and was taken to the hospital. A short time later he passed away on 22 Sep 2017. Bob was laid to rest in the Evergreen Memorial Park located in East Wenatchee, Washington.
