Ruth Ward, age 95, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Brookdale West Memory Care, Madison.

She was born in Michigan on December 16, 1921, the daughter of Rudolph and Katherine Stockinger. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc in 1938, and from Manitowoc Business College in 1939. She came to Madison in 1941 and was employed by the State of Wisconsin for 14 years.

On April 7, 1947 Ruth married Gerald Ward. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1989.

Her religion was very important to her. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and belonged to St. Mary's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her two grandchildren, Justin and Christina and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Ward, a brother, and five sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison with Msgr. Kenneth J. Fiedler presiding. Family will greet friends, at church, one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Chapel. A lunch will follow.
