ARTHUR LANGE

YOUNGSTOWN – Arthur Lange, 71, passed away peacefully at home, entering into the presence of our Lord, in the wee hours of the morning of Thursday, July 24, 2014.
Art was born Feb. 12, 1943, in Torun, Poland (Germany at the time), a birthplace he shared with Copernicus, and a birthday he shared with Abraham Lincoln. He was proud of both of these coincidences.
Arthur came to America, to Youngstown, at the age of nine, with his post-World War II immigrant family: father Adolf, mother Marta (Job), and brothers Gerhard, Werner, and Gunther. His sister, Doris (Pitzer), was born here.
A 1961 graduate of South High School, Art married Sandra Holmes of Brier Hill in 1962. She wanted Elvis, and Artie gave her him and more. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the mid-1960s, and was a longtime employee with the circulation department of The Youngstown Vindicator.
His marriage to Sandi gave life to four lovely, and loving, human beings, daughters Nancy (Keith) Morrison and Jennifer (Sam) Bernick, both now in Virginia, and sons David and Dennis (Sue) Lange of Austintown. They, as well as his four grandsons, five granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter, will miss him dearly. As will his other family survivors, wife Sandra, and all of his siblings and their families.
A memorial service to honor Art’s life will be held at the Kidston Pavilion at Fellows Riverside Gardens (MCMP) at noon on Sunday, Aug, 17, 2014. The family welcomes friends of Arthur to attend and informally share their stories and memories.
Inurnment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman will take place with a private family ceremony the following day.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any material donations be made in the form of gifts in Arthur’s name to HMHP Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512. “We feel very indebted to this wonderful organization, and are so grateful for the caring, professional service that the staff has provided to ease Art through his last days.”
The Lange family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home.
