Revolutionary War Veteran qualified. Ancestor # A064272 Rank: notation on DAR search: Patriotic Service.

Born in Shrewsbury Twp., York Co., Pa. Parents are unknown
but there is a Jacob Keller who died in 1791 [Dover Twp, York Co., Pa.] who is a strong candidate to be Henry's father.

Married in 1784 to Catherine Seitz of York, Pa. [see Catherine in this cemetery for her information].

In about 1806-1808 Henry & his wife moved with their children to Fairfield Co., Oh. Catherine had a brother & sisters in this location already.

They settled about 5 miles north of the present Lancaster, Ohio. Eventually Henry owned over 1,000 acres of land. Henry was a member of the Mennonite Church his entire life

This cemetery is located in the center of Section 15 and was the original land of Henry Keller who bought it from the US Government Land Office in 1808. Henry's son Daniel was given this land in Henry's last will & testament. Daniel's daughter Susan married the nephew of William Medill the 22nd Govenor of Ohio and thus comes the name Keller-Medill Cemetery. In 1871 Daniel Keller, son of Henry Keller, turned the cemetery over to the trustees of the Pleasant Hill Church on George Road.[Post script to this]. At some point the Church trustees reliquised the care of this cemetery and for many many years it was a jungle of weeds. The Keller descendants should be grateful to the owners of the Keller home that was the second house built on this land in about 1836. The present owners mow, tend and care for the family cemetery. My grateful thanks to them [2011].

Jason Scott a young man saw my plea for a photo of this cemetery. With minimal directions he found this cemetery and took photograph's of all the people buried in this cemetery. As well he talked to the present day owners of over 30 years who have taken it upon themselves to preserve this cemetery, re-cement stones that were broken, up-right markers, mow, trim tree's and help to preserve something so old. This is done with no help from anyone else [such as Pleasant Hill Church or the Historical Society]. Unknown to me was the fact that the home that is on this property today was the home that Daniel built in 1840 to replace his fathers home that had been built over 30 years before.

I hope to contact these people soon and learn perhaps what information they might have regarding the Keller Family that may not be public knowledge. My sincere thanks to Jason Scott for his wonderful photograph's, and his time.

Father to the following children: John 1785, Jacob 1787,
Benjamin 1789, Elizabeth 1791, Henry Jr. 1793, Joseph 1795,
Daniel 1797, Catherine 1800, Magdalena 1801, Mary 1803. All of the children were born in York Co., Pa. and were part of the migration to Ohio.
