Daniel was born in Shrewsbury Twp., York Co., Pa. son of Henry Keller and Catherine Seitz. In 1808 the Keller family and relatives moved to Fairfield Co., Ohio.

Daniel married Susannah Ruffner in 1824 in Ohio. Born to them: Simon P., Lovina, Joseph M., Emmanuel R., Sophia, Catherine, David, Annias, Augustus R., Martha Anne, and Susan.
