She was born on March 29, 1931 in Eccles, West Virginia, the daughter of Gratton and Virgie Kirk Barker. On March 5, 1949, Lila was united in marriage to Melvin D. Westermeyer in Donnellson, IA. He survives.
She is also survived by one son, Kirk Douglas Westermeyer (Kathy Scott) of Keokuk, IA, one daughter, Kathy Ann Hagmeier (Ron) of Montrose, two grandsons, Stacy Lynn Hagmeier and Colt Sterling Hagmeier (Ashlea) all of Montrose, two step-grandsons, Clint Hagmeier (Carrie) of Ft. Madison, and Matt Hagmeier (Kim) of Montrose, six great-grandchildren, Dylan Hagmeier, Lila Ann Hagmeier both of Montrose, Jill Hagmeier of Lowell, IA, Jesse Hagmeier of Ft. Madison, Zachary Hagmeier of Pontoosuc, IL and Karley Harvey of Montrose, and one brother, Joseph Barker of Moline, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters, Bernard, Lee, Bernice, Bernett, Betty and Lillian.
Lila had been employed at Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk.
Lila loved her family and received great joy from spending time with them. She also loved her dog, Michelle, who was her constant companion.
According to her wishes there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date.
