Mrs. Josephine Butterfield, 80, native pioneer of the Northwest, passed away this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Lester, 717 South Pearl street.

Born November 12, 1862, at Beaverton, Ore., Mrs. Butterfield had resided in this vicinity 61 years. Nine children, 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren survive.

The children in addition to Mrs. Lester, are Henry, LaForest and Joseph J. Butterfield and Mrs. Anna Pollock, all of Centralia; Willis, Tenino; Mrs. Maude Rupert, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Eva Prentice, Medford, Ore., and Mrs. Grace Bilow, Montesano.

A sister, Mrs. Caroline Krauss, resides at The Dalles, Ore.
