Walter Edward Taylor, age 75, of Murfreesboro passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. He was a native of Rockvale and the son of the late Alf Poplin Taylor, Sr. and Alta Blanton Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alf P. Taylor, Jr., sisters, Bonnie Lou Ownby and Josephine Crockett.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Stone Taylor, son, Eddie Taylor of Murfreesboro, sisters, Jean Burns of Rockvale, Peggy McPeak of Murfreesboro and Judy Taylor of Christiana; grandchildren, Austin, MacKensie, Lane; great grandson, Ryker.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Julian Goodpasture and Teb Batey will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Taylor was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ. He was employed at Samsonite for 32 years and retired from the Rutherford County Highway Department in 2005. He was a member of the Rutherford County Ole Timer’s Baseball Hall of Fame, the Rutherford County Sportsmans Club and the  Blue Raider Athletic Association.
