James L. Brockmann, 72, of Walcott, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Genesis Health System-East Campus in Davenport.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Pastor Al Coffin will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, Iowa.

James Lee Brockmann was born May 30, 1945, in Davenport, the son of Elmer and Alberta H. (Riessen) Brockmann. He graduated from West High School in 1963, then attended Iowa State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 1st Calvary, during the Vietnam War. He married Rhonda R. Rietz on February 28, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was employed at JI Case for several years and then employed at Alcoa for 46 years, until retiring in March of 2015. He was a member of the Walcott American Legion, Post #548. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, farming with his brother and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda of Walcott; three daughters, Kale (Stephani Reding) Brockmann of Maple Grove, MN, Tenley (Cory Gorsuch) Brockmann of Walcott, and Amanda (Blaze) Tomlin of Mt. Sterling, KY; two sons, Benjamin (Allison) Brockmann of Davenport, and Jesse (Kendra Bosten) Brockmann of North Liberty; two grandchildren, Katrina and Maverick; two sisters, Deanna (Keith) Moore of Davenport, and Peggy (Ron) Sleep of Long Grove; two brothers, John (Janet) Brockmann of Walcott, and Chuck (Kim) Brockmann of Long Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
