Drama “LaVerne” McGinnis Davenport, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Liberty Care Center. She was 85.
Born on December 8, 1932, in Casey Co., Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lyda McGinnis. LaVerne was a teacher. She was a member of: Athens Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ, Willow Oak Church of Christ, and Labascus Church of Christ. In the past, she enjoyed swimming, volleyball, and horseback riding. LaVerne was an excellent rook player and an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Davenport of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Kimberly Davenport of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Allen Davenport of Liberty; a grandson, Ryan Floyd of Liberty; and a great-grandson, Logan Dale Floyd of Liberty. Other survivors include a sister, Janie McGinnis of Scottsdale, Arizona; and two brothers, Roger McGinnis of Ripley, Ohio, and Mike McGinnis.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Murrell Davenport; two sisters, Laura McGinnis and Jan Moore; and three brothers, Les McGinnis, Jack McGinnis, and Ronnie McGinnis.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12th, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. J.D. McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Floyd, Johnathan Hopp, Roger McGinnis, Rick McQueary, Ron Powers.
Arrangements for Ms. LaVerne Davenport are entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
