First husband of Margaret Jane (Hardesty) Stickney Forrest (1847-1904). They were married on July 28, 1864 in Allen County, Ohio. Malcolm and Margaret had at least four children together including: Charles, Elijah, Matilda and William Stickney. Malcolm was a Veteran of the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted in 1864 in Co. I, 128th Ohio Infantry and was mustered out in 1865. Malcolm was the son of One Stickney and Matilda Jane (Bassel) Stickney. He was the grandson of Benjamin Franklin Stickney (a descendant of Benjamin Franklin) and a a great-grandson of Maj. General John Stark of Revolutionary War fame. (Malcolm's great grandmother was the niece of Benjamin Franklin.) Malcolm died of consumption at age 28. He left everything in his will to his wife, Margaret.
