The remains of Curtis Mansfield, 67 years of age were brought to Effingham Monday for burial in the Evergreen cemetery, beside the remains of his parents and daughter. Mr. Mansfield died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning from a cerebral Hemorrhage. He had been and invalid and sufferer from paralysis, the past three years. The remains were accompanied to Effingham by his daughter Mrs. T. D Savage and her husband, and his son Leonard Mansfield and his wife, all of Kansas City. His death occurred in a Catholic Home, in Kansas City, where he became a member of the Catholic church. When the family lived here nearly forty years ago, they were attendants of the Presbyterian church. Rev. L. H. Eakes held a short service at the grave. A daughter Mrs. Mabel Mattocks died a year ago and Addie died fifteen years ago. Mrs. Mansfield is living but she and her husband separated some time ago. The deceased lived on the farm where Frank Fassnacht lives. His parents lived in the Valentine property now occupied by the Jacksons. For many years the deceased was a street car conductor in Kansas City. A brother Bernard lives in Ohio. His wife is an aristocratic English woman and it was she who built the house now owned by Wm. Nye, but she didn't like the west. Old time friends of the family, Alex Mackay, Frank Hawk, Ed Moore, R. B. Hawk, George and James Snyder were the pall-bearers. A. G Valentine made all necessary funeral arrangements. Other old time friends, some of whom attended the services at the grave were Mrs. Jennie Roll, Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Hawk, John Sullivan, Richard Osborne and Tom Brown.

Curt Mansfield who will be remembered by a number of Effingham people, is having hard luck in Kansas City, where he is at work. His youngest boy has been very ill for over six weeks with spinal mengitis.
