On the morning of Friday, December 4, 2015 at 7:45am, GOD called Bruce Edward Byrd home after a long hard battle with cancer.

Bruce has now joined his parents; David Byrd and Marie Coates Byrd ; two sisters, Colleen Byrd Guest and Danette Byrd Poole; a special aunt, Ilene Pounds and a host of family friends in a new place of rest.

He knew his time was near, yet he fought long and hard, but GOD knew when enough was enough.

He loved music and dancing, telling good jokes, impersonating others for laughs and making the ladies smile. He loved gadgets, classic automobiles, cutting grass when he was able and tinkering with things.

In his last days, he fell in love with candy corn and ice cream, which brought the family comfort to be able to bring him those things to each visit.

He loved the Lord and his church family. He turned his life around and gave his life to Christ many years ago. His testimony is “Christ Made the Difference In Him”. We take comfort in the fact that he was at peace with his life’s transition to a better place.

Funeral: First Baptist Lawndale

Burial: church cemetery
