George Huckstep Berry was born on March 21, 1846 in Virginia, the son of Dr Marvil Lee Berry (ca 1810–1890) and Eliza Ann (Huckstep) Berry (ca 1820–1866).
He was married to Laura E Mathews (1853–1926), the daughter of Wylie Powell Mathews (1823-1899) and Harriett (Price) Mathews (1829-1907).
A retired merchant living at 214 6th Avenue South in Nashville, he was 76 years old and married when he died at home, cause unknown, on March 25, 1922. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
