Actor. Born Harry Sorokin, he was a character actor who was known for his appearances in both television and film in a career that span six decades. His best known role was of 'Dr. Ted Hoffman' on the ABC medical drama series "Ben Casey" from 1961 to 1966. He started out as a laborer at the Warner Brothers studios in the mid 1940s. After hearing about his heroism as a Merchant Marine, actress Bette Davis helped him get his Screen Actors Guild card, which helped him get jobs as a film extra. His first film role came in the 1947 film "Boomerang!". He returned to New York City in the late 1940s and started doing theatrical and live television work. His first television acting role came in 1949 on the series "Studio One in Hollywood". Besides "Ben Casey", he would go on to perform on such television series as "Captain Video and His Video Rangers", "Police Call", "Treasury Men in Action", "The Whistler", "Navy Log", "Perry Mason", "Broken Arrow", "The Silent Service", "The Millionaire", "Johnny Ringo", "Have Gun - Will Travel", "The Untouchables", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Rat Patrol", "Mannix", "Star Trek", and "Quincy M.E.". He also continued acting in film with such credits as "Undercover Girl" (1950), "Phantom from Space" (1953), "Drive a Crooked Road" (1954), "Rear Window" (1954), "The Ted Commandments" (1956), "Up Periscope" (1959), "The Gallant Hours" (1960), "Charro!" (1969), and "Hollywood Heartbreak" (1990). In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he was also known as the television spokesman for Taster's Choice coffee. He left acting in the early 1990s.
