Jack was born on May 26, 1949 in Meshoppen, PA the son of the late Carl Whipple, who passed away on July 22, 1978 and Lucy Pickett Whipple, who passed away on December 30, 2001. Jack graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School with the Class of 1967. After high school Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy from January of 1969 until December of 1972. He attended and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with the Class of 1975 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Jack owned and operated his own construction business for a number of years. He was a member of the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion, in Black Walnut, PA. Jack was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, as well as kayaking with his daughter, Lydia. He also liked gardening and woodworking. Most of all Jack loved to spend time with his family, and enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events in their younger lives, thoughout their high school years.
Jack is survived by his son Daniel Whipple (Stephanie Scavone) of Tunkhannock, PA; his daughter Lydia Whipple of Laceyville, PA; his sister Ellen Whipple of Laceyville, PA; as well as many cousins.
Funeral services for Jack will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Reverend Mark King, a long time family friend officiating. Interment will follow at Lacey Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 9, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Military Services will be conducted at the funeral home, by the members of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion of Black Walnut, PA; the Dennis Strong Post # 457 American Legion of Tunkhannock, PA; and the Endless Mountains V.F.W. Post # 3583 of Mehoopany, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hunts for Healing, 3 Coburn Hill Road, Laceyville, PA 18623 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
