Marijane Curia, 82, passed away in Michigan while surrounded by her family. She was a Diamondhead resident recently preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joe.
Marijane was raised in Akron, Ohio by her parents Ed and Magdalene Bates. She was a popular and beautiful young lady; Homecoming Queen at South High School. Yet, her parents taught her to be prayerful, loving and unselfish. After Joe won her heart, Marijane embraced motherhood and was grateful for the chance to share life with each of her 5 children generously caring for their needs. Her strength was always providing a listening ear and offering comfort and loving advice. As the years passed, Marijane remained sincerely devoted to her husband and the life they built together.
In later years Marijane was known as 'Nana' to her 9 grandchildren and beloved in-laws. She cherished the time spent with them and, by example, she lovingly taught them the values of honesty, cooperation and kindness. As her life waned, Marijane remained outwardly focused on the needs of her family, assuring them of God's loving plan.
Please join in a celebration of Marijane's life at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead on Monday, January 26. The family will greet friends at the church starting at 10 am followed by the memorial service which will begin at 11 am. Burial will be beside Joe at Biloxi National Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donation be made in Marijane's honor to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
