Edna Estelle Tatum Cox, 96, of 6472 US HWY 158E, Leasburg, died Sunday, January 7, 2018. Born in Person County, Mrs. Cox was the daughter of the late Joe Scott and Lottie Long Tatum and wife of the late William Fred Cox, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Judy Cox. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker. She was member of Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher of the Beginner Class, a member of the WMU, and she kept the nursery. Mrs. Cox was an active member of the Ruritan Club and the Caswell County Home Extension Club.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her children, Shirley Deal and husband, Fred, Fred Cox, Jr. and Donna Tompkins and husband, Mike, all of Leasburg; two sisters, Doris Davis and Carol Trickey and husband, A.C.; seven grandchildren, Brian Lunsford, Dana LaChapelle, Tammy Oakley, W.F. Cox, Jill Clayton, Kimberly Painter and Michael Tompkins; thirteen great-grandchildren, Carson Jeffreys, Hannah Lunsford, William LaChapelle, Clara LaChapelle, Daniel Jones, Kelby Oakley, Hunter Oakley, Kennedy Cox, Karoline Cox, Gauge Cox, Tanner Clayton, Collin Clayton, and Loren Painter.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2017 at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Thomas. Burial will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Billy Brewer, Thomas Tatum, Jerry Davis, David Trickey, Chuck Burch, Louie Marian, Daniel Jones, Hunter Oakley and Randy Tatum.

Memorials may be made to Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1026 Long's Store Rd., Roxboro, NC, 27574.
