Thank You Angel for sponsoring this memorial page. I really appreciate it. So kind of you to do this.

A baby girl found dead in the Mississippi River backwaters has been in the water since late fall or early winter, authorities said Tuesday.

A person, who declined to be interviewed, spotted the partly decomposed body in one of the northermost slips, where sticks and logs and other debris from the spring melt often are caught. The baby was not wearing clothes and was not covered in a towel or blanket, McNurlin said.

An autopsy performed Tuesday indicated the girl was probably in the water since November or December 0f 2006, McNurlin said. It also showed that the body had suffered some broken bones, but that those injuries occurred after death.

"We believe it was caused by the current and debris in the water," McNurlin said.
He said the ethnicity of the girl has not been determined, but that authorities hope to learn more about the girl and a possible link to the other cases through DNA testing.

I'm always amazed when they find one in the river or in a dumpster because you know, it's easy enough to leave it with someone who will take care of it
