Dr. Golden's work at Lemoyne-Owen originally focused on curricular development. Dr. Golden developed the social sciences program by integrating community service participation into the curriculum. Students now lead community service projects via the Junior Achievement program as part of their core course requirements.
Since 2006, Dr. Golden's work focused on health disparity issues, cultivating student interest and leadership in community participatory research. She also directed a multidisciplinary intervention designed to foster social and fiscal independence for individuals who were relocated to Shelby County, TN after being impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
In recent years, she was the principal investigator for two research efforts: The Lemoyne-Owen/Meharry Wellness Project and The Partnership for Asthma Trigger-Free Homes (PATH). Both projects address the matter of health disparities in the local community and are heavily dependent upon community partnerships and student involvement. For the CHEER project, she serves as a Co-Investigator and a member of the Executive Leadership Board.
