"Mrs. Bertha C. Mayfield, 53, of Lexington, and a former resident of Pulaski County, died Saturday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Stella Garner, Bruceville, Ind. She had been in ill health for several years.

The daughter of James H. and Dora Frances Sutherland Girdler, she was born January 2, 1909 in Russell County.

Mrs. Mayfield worked as a saleswoman in Cincinnati and had been away from the county for several years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill No. 2 Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Garner, Mrs. Ruth Prather, Somerset, and Mrs. Flonnie Garner, Lexington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of the Somerset Undertaking Company with the Rev. Davis King officiating. Burial was in the Tanner Cemetery.
