"Mr. James Henry Girdler, 54 years old, son of Rev. Joseph and Lucy Girdler, died Sunday at his home in this county. Mr. Girdler was born in this county, January 13, 1879. He was married to Miss Dora Sutherland, January 18, 1900, and to this union were born five children, one son and four daughters. The son died in infancy. Mr. Girdler joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church, November 22, 1896, and at the time of his death was a member of the Pleasant Hill church. He was a Christian in every sense of the word. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Mrs. Jesse Garner, Lexington, Mrs. Robert Prather, Frankfort, Mrs. Elmor Garner, Vincennes, Ind., and Mrs. Ted Mayfield, Oak Hill. He also leaves seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Reuben Shadoan, of Somerset, and one brother, Mr. William Girdler."

He was born on January 13, 1879 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, a son of Joseph Franklin Girdler and Lucy Morning Lay Girdler.
He was the husband of Dora F. Southerland Girdler.
James had two brothers, Josiah William Girdler and Levi Girdler; and two sisters, Anna Belle Girdler and Linnie Ellen Girdler.
Burial was in the Tanner Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
