On January 17, 2018, at his home in Upper Marlboro, MD, died of congested heart failure while with his close friend Jackie Otto.
Gary was born July 31, 1953, in Takoma Park, MD, and was the son of the late Jesse B. Armstrong and Elaine D. Armstrong, and the brother of Roger (Terry) Armstrong, Carol (Loyde) Hensley and Larry (Karen) Armstrong.
He graduated from Parkdale High School, Class of 1972. After high school, he worked for Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission for 41 years prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his two sons, Shawn M. Armstrong, Lyndhurst, VA, and Jesse P. Armstrong, Wellsboro, PA; he has one granddaughter, Aria Armstrong, Wellsboro, PA; and seven nieces and nephews, Brandon, Melissa, Cory, Kyle, Cody, Gino, Courtney and four great nieces and nephews, Colby, Peyton, Madison and Grayson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17 at 12 Noon until 5 p.m., at the Patuxent River 4-H Center, 18405 Queen Anne Road, Upper Marlboro, MD, 20774.
