Among various other business endeavors, Cheek owned and operated the Howard Avenue Laundry for a number of years (incidentally, the Laundry was located about one block from his grave in Mountain Grove Cemetery). Cheek was a rather quiet man and very generous to the children throughout the family.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Galbicsek (nee Condie) and his daughter Jill.
