Isabell (McCullough) Thornton was born on May 3, 1907 in Rutherford County, Tennessee, the daughter of Phillip McCullough and Katie (Robertson) McCullough.
Living at 214½ 9th Avenue North in Nashville, she was 36 years old and a widow when she received severe 2nd degree burns over 50-60% of her body in a home fire on January 9, 1944. She died three days later at Nashville General Hospital, and was buried on January 17th in Mount Ararat Cemetery in Nashville.
