In 1900 he and his parents and his eight siblings lived in a place they were renting in Ward 7 in Canton, OH. His father worked as a glass blower. Three of his siblings worked in rolling mills--Harry as a matcher, Della as a solderer, and James as a scraper.

In 1910 he, his sister Helen and her husband and their son, and his sister Tillie and her husband lived with their mother in a place they were renting in Sharpsburg, PA. Tillie's husband worked as a house carpenter, Helen's husband as a laborer at a freight station, and he as a messenger in a steel works.

In 1920 he lived with his sister Edna, her husband, and their two sons in a place they were renting in Ward 19 in Pittsburgh, PA. Raymond worked as a cost clerk for a coal company and he as a bench hand for Pittsburgh Gauge and Supply. Also living with them were four young children, ages one month to five years. Apparently his sister and brother-in-law were foster parents.

In 1930 he and his second wife, the former Mary Alice "Mae" Mick, lived in a place they were renting for $50 a month at 6073 Mayfield Road in Cleveland, OH. They did have a radio. He worked as a polisher for a brass manufacturing company and she as a servant for a private family.

In 1940 he and his wife and two lodgers lived in a place they were renting for $50 a month at 1350 Hayden Avenue in East Cleveland, OH. He worked as the proprietor of a florist shop and she as a saleslady in the florist shop.
