Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late James S. and Pearl R. Clift Holden, she was a 1947 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and had worked for many years in Reynolds Gift Shop, Carbondale.
Miriam was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale, a member of the Triple M Club at the church, where she was a past president. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women's Ugly Quilt Club and the Carbondale News Club.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, James N. Heath and Diana, Chesapeake, Va.; and Donald J Heath Sr. and Linda, Carbondale; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Denise, Donny, David, Dennis, Michael, Devin and Lauren; 16 great-grandchildren, Karissa, Haley, Kyra, Antonia, Leah, Cody, Dylan, D.J., Johnny, Autumn, Aaron, Mikayla, Chloe, Grayson, Aeson and Julia; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Jo Chirles; three sisters, Ruth Bush, Dorothy and Marie Stilson; and two half-sisters, Barbara and Doris Holden.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Carbondale, with services by the Rev. Donald Perry. Interment will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.
