Ralph Leon McCrory, 84 of Tuscola, IL, passed away at home the morning of February 14, 2018.

Visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main Street in Tuscola with Randy Nave, nephew of Ralph, as celebrant followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Burial with military graveside rites accorded will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Ralph was born on November 2, 1933 in Annapolis, IL, the youngest of 12 children, to Burt and Amy McCrory. He is survived by one sister, Mary Helen Williams of Robinson, IL.

He graduated from Hutsonville High School in 1951. Following graduation, he joined the Army and served our country in Germany from 1952-1956 where he earned a Good Conduct Medal and Army Occupation Medal.

After meeting at a movie theatre in December 1956, he married Carolyn Sue Crabtree on July 14, 1957 in Robinson, IL. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage together in July 2017 with a celebration amongst family and friends. She survives.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn; children: David (Julie) McCrory of Tuscola, Doug (Cindy) McCrory of Tuscola, and Kathy (Steve) Gentry of Sadorus; grandchildren: Erin, Karen, Amy (Jason), Carly, Sarah, Jackson, Halle, Melissa (Chris), Brett, and Mindy (Chris); great-grandchildren: Stanley, Cameron, Jayden, Carson, Skylar, Phoebe, Sierra and Leigha. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He worked at USI in Tuscola for 40 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the VFW and Tuscola Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed spending time as a Winter Texan, dancing, playing games, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, hunting, taking long walks around the neighborhood and Ervin Park, reading, coaching softball and basketball, and traveling and camping in his RV all over the country.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, magnificent grandfather, and thoughtful friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Douglas County (Team McCrory), 705 S. Main Street, Tuscola, IL 61953.
