Gregory L. Beckers, age 88, of St. Cloud, formerly of Waite Park, Clearwater and Plymouth, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fairhaven with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Gregory Leander Beckers was born on November 23, 1929 in Watkins, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Tellers) Beckers. He attended school in Kimball, where he graduated with the Kimball High School Class of 1948. On May 5, 1951 Greg was united in marriage to Myrna A. Miller in Watkins, Minnesota. Shortly after, Greg entered the United States Army. He honorably served his country during the Korean War from 1951 until his discharge in 1953. Upon his discharge, Greg attended Northwestern Electronic Institute in Minneapolis. Greg spent his career working as an electronic technician for various companies including companies located in Waseca and Minneapolis. He retired in 1991 from Onan Corp. in Fridley after 18 years of employment. In his spare time Greg enjoyed playing bingo, painting, reading, and fishing. As a lifelong Minnesota Twins fan, Greg cheered on the Twins from home and in the stadium. Above all, Greg treasured the time he was able to spend with his family. He cherished being at family events and being in the presence of those he so dearly loved.

Greg is survived by his children, Gary (Darlene) Beckers of Altura, MN, Gail (Gary) Lieder of St. Cloud, and Gwen (Earl) Gehrke of South Haven; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Ferris of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by Myrna Beckers, parents Joseph & Anna Beckers, granddaughter Melissa Gehrke, great granddaughter Cara Lyn Spanier, and siblings Wendelin, Norbert, Alfred, Edwin and Ewald Beckers, Armella Madden, Lucinda Nistler, Luella Roach, and Evelyn Ferris.

Daniel Westby, Dean Westby, Daniel Northenscold, Lance Spanier, Gary Lieder, and Earl Gehrke will serve as pallbearers.
