Laid to Rest: Wednesday, February 08, 2017 in the Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, Maryland

Ada Teresa Yorkshire, Mechanicsville, MD, entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2017.

Ada was born on September 25, 1939. She was born the eighth child of James Edward Holton, Sr. (deceased) and Mary Agnes Willis Holton (deceased).

Ada attended Gravely Knott and White Marsh Elementary School. She graduated from Banneker High School in 1958. She attended Immaculate Conception in Mechanicsville, MD and later in life she attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California, Maryland.

Ada married James Timothy Yorkshire on March 30, 1959.

She was the mother of five children: T. Darlene Yorkshire, (Lexington Park, MD), Y. Anthony Yorkshire, (Acworth, GA), Kelvin Darnell Yorkshire, (deceased), Lisa R. Yorkshire, (Prince Frederick, MD), and Timothy Wayne Yorkshire, (Lexington, MD).

Her son, Timothy “Wayne”, was the special love of her life. She considered him to be "God's Lent Child". Though his speech is impaired, they were blessed with a mother and son love language they both understood. As his primary caregiver, she poured her heart and soul into caring for him throughout the many challenges when most would have given up.

Her grandchildren are: Dayania Crysteal Carroll, Wilson Edward Talbot Joseph Carroll, Sade Yorkshire, Yasinia Yorkshire, Sebastian Yorkshire, and Dwayne Franklin Yorkshire. Her great grandchildren are: Zakhi Benjamin Carroll and Kevin Lamonta Robinson II.

Her siblings are: Frederick Holton, Christine Bowles, Agatha Adams and Eleanor Holton. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Vincent J. Holton, Andrew I. Holton, Sr., James E. Holton, Jr. and Donald Holton and sisters: Frances M. Butler, Agnes Armstrong and Cecilia Holton.

The pallbearers are: Kevin Adams, Chris Holton, Trent Holton, Craig Holt, Brandon Bowman and James Cornell Collins.

The family wishes to thank God and give loving gratitude to Mrs. Mary "Pinky" Holt, and her family--Ada's devoted friends and neighbors, the "angels next door" who were always there in her time of need. She loved them very much and we will forever be grateful.

Family and friends will unite on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 for visitation at 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment to follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
