ELSIE WAGNER HEMINGWAY DIES IN CONNECTICUT

Word was received by relatives that Mrs. Elsie Wagner Hemingway of Hampton, Conn., passed away July 29 at the age of 76.

She was born June 25, 1887, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Wagner of New Richland. She attended Waseca county schools and graduated from the Normal school at Mankato State Teacher's college. She taught in Hutchinson at one time, and later worked as a practical nurse in various homes in Minneapolis.

Her husband, former electrician, survives and a sister Mrs. Toy Bak of Waseca, is the last surviving member of the Wagner family.

The remains will be shipped to New Richland and funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Heinz Schwarz at the Congregational church at 10:30 a.m., August 7. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery in New Richland.

Notes from Shirley Hemingway: George William Hemingway and his wife, Elsie Wagner Hemingway, had 2 sons. They were living in Connecticut with or near their son Joseph William (1916-1975) and his wife Betty Lehman Hemingway. (Joseph had 2 children: Robert and Sandra.) Another son was James Lewis Hemingway (1918-1989)and he was married to Nedra Cooper (1921-?)James and Nedra Hemingway had no children. In 1984 I corresponded with James L. Hemingway who was then living in Colorado. He sent me some pictures of his family, including his mom and dad.

From one of Elsie Wagner Hemingway's relatives I learned that the son Joseph upon the death of his parents (Elsie and George W.) "had their bodies cremated and brought back their ashes to New Richland, MN."
