Obituary for Willard "Will" Quentin Reynolds

Willard ‘Will’ Quentin Reynolds of Nampa, ID departed this life, bound for the next, on January 1, 2017. He will be remembered as being a kind and gentle husband, dad, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. His kids and grandkids will also remember him as a tease and prankster, a world class water fighter, and a connoisseur of watermelon.
Will was born June 30, 1945 in Boise, ID to William D. and Alice (Doan) Reynolds. He grew up on the family’s dairy farm in Kuna, with his older brothers, Willis and Warren, and his older sisters, Louise and Freda. A love of sports became a part of the Reynolds family at an early age; during every family gathering, a game of baseball ensued as Will’s grandfather was a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. During high school, Will participated in football, basketball and track. Mr. KHS graduated from Kuna High School in 1963. Shortly after graduating, he departed Kuna for California to escape milking cows every day at 4:30 AM and 4:30 PM. He later enlisted in the Marine Corps. Between active duty and reserve duty, he served eleven years.
Will married Sharon Leavitt in 1966. They became parents to four children: Shawna, Brian, Tanya and Brenda. They later divorced. In 1983, he married Patsy Sanders. They shared many adventures as they enjoyed traveling together; to the Oregon coast to go deep-sea fishing, to Australia and New Zealand, allowing each to check an item from their bucket list and most recently, to the British Isles, to attend the Royal Military Tattoo in Scotland and sip a couple of Guinnesses in Ireland.
After high school, Will’s love of sports did not waver. He coached his kid’s teams when they were younger. He is his kids and grandkids biggest fan and supporter. Two of his daughters followed his coaching lead and became coaches themselves. He also instilled a love of fishing in his children. All four of his kids could all bait their own hooks by the time they were six.
As often as possible, Will shared traveling and sports adventures with his children; Shawna to West Virginia for a BSU championship game and Brian to Alaska to go deep-sea fishing. More than once, grandkids shared Grandpa’s journey to BSU games, traveling with him to Reno.
A good looking, well-groomed yard was a priority for Will. He spent countless hours outdoors. For several years, he was the caretaker of a garden which he shared with the neighborhood. Growing tomatoes was his specialty; always wanting to have tomatoes for the 4th of July. He experimented endlessly with watering systems for his tomatoes. He discovered a passion and true talent for woodworking. He made furniture for each of his children, wedding gifts for friends and quilt stands for Patsy’s special friends. Their home is furnished with his creations.
Will is survived by Patsy, his wife of thirty-three years, his four children: Shawna Ineck and her children, Toni, Nikole and Quinten; Brian (Holly) Reynolds and their children, Heather and Brandon; Tanya (Ryan) Corta and their teenagers, Dillon and Kendra; and his youngest, Brenda (Nick) Plascencia and their family, Isaiah, Tre, Michelle, Nicolas and Brooklyn, his sisters: Louise Marshall of Meridian, ID and Freda Cronemiller of Petaluma, CA, sister-in-law: Teresa Reynolds of Kuna, ID; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law in ID, WY and CO. Will is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Will is predeceased by Anthony Ineck, his son-in-law and Bryce Reynolds, his grandson.
A memorial service for Willard Reynolds will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID. (208-467-7300)
Those wishing to wear orange and blue to honor Will’s two favorite sports teams – the BSU Broncos and Chicago Bears – please feel free to do so.
