Mr. John Skinner Wright, for many years a large coffee importer of this city and New York, died in the latter city at 10.30 P.M. Tuesday of blood-poisioning, the result of a surgical operation. mr. Wirighjt was born in Queen Anne's county, Md., 68 years ago, and was a grandson of Gov. Wright of Maryland. He attended school in Baltimore, and when a young man went to Rio de Janeiro, where he began as a clerk in the house of Maxwell, Wright & Co., large coffee dealers, and afterwards became a partner in the business. He returned to Baltimore some years after, and engaged in the coffee importing business on his own account, his office being in the old-fashioned building still standing on Second street, next to the Baltimore Savings Bank. At the close of the war Mr. Wright removed to New York and established the houses of Wright, Brown & Co., of New York, and Wright & Co., of Brazil. He was at the time of his death vice-president of the Coffee Exchange of New York. During the "Plug-Ugly" times in Baltimore Gov. Ligon called out two regiments to suppress disorder, and Mr. Wright was appointed colonel of one of the regiments. He was a member of the city council during the same troublous ttimes. Mr. Wright married a daughter of Granville S. Oldfield, a well-known wine merchant and importer. She survives him, with four children - one son and three daughters. His son G. Granville Wright, married a daughter of the late George Law, the New York capitalist; one daughter married a son of J. M. Brown, of New York; another is Mrs. Barclay, of New York, and the other is single. Mr. Robert Clinton Wright, a brother of Mr. John S. Wright and father of Capt. D. Giraud Wright, died several years ago. The funeral services will be held in New York, after which the remains will be brought to Baltimore, and taken directly from Union Depot to Greenmount.

The remains of the late John S. Wright arrived at Union Depot, on the limited express from New York, at 2.50 P.M. yesterday, and were taken direct to Greenmount Cemetery and interred in the family lot. The immediate family only were present. The funeral services were held Thursday at the Church of the Incarnation, New York. There were a number of beautiful floral offering. A delegation from the Coffee Exchange of New York, of which the deceased was vice-president, were present. The pall-bearers ...
