"MARY REBECCA COVERT BOLTON

It is with regret that we announce the death of Mrs. J. P. Bolton a woman well known in this locality and held in highest esteem by all who have ever known her. Mrs. Bolton was as well as usual until last Thursday morning at eleven o'clock when she was taken suddenly ill with an attack of acute indigestion.
The family were not unduly alarmed at her condition, but she grew worse Friday evening and passed away about eight thirty o'clock.
Mary Rebecca COVERT was born 19 Jan 1852 at New Athens, Harrison County Ohio. There she grew to womanhood and there on 30 Oct 1873 she was united in marriage with Joseph P. BOLTON.
Mr. and Mrs. Bolton came to Kansas to reside in 1885 and located on the home farm west of Burlingame, where they lived until about ten years ago when they moved to their present home in town.
To them was born eleven children, nine daughters and two sons. Two baby girls died in infancy and one little son accidentally killed at the age of six years. These three were laid to rest in Ohio. Another little daughter, Mary Eva, died at the age of two years and three months and is buried here. Mrs. Bolton leaves to mourn her loss, her dearly beloved husband Joseph P. BOLTON, six daughters, Mrs. Ada Brace of Alva, Okla., Mrs. Frances Wells of McCune Kans, Mrs. Lillian Burns and Mrs. Josephine Hopkins of Burlingame, Mrs. Cora Cleland of Eskridge, Kansas and Mrs. Cecile Short of Thermopolis, Wyo., and her one son Carl Bolton of Burlingame. She is survived by twenty-eight grand children. Her daughter Cecile was a Red Cross nurse and her grandson, Ralph Brace of the 35 Division helped out in the World War from the beginning to the end.
She was converted when a girl and joined the Presbyterian church of which she continued to be a member until after her marriage when with her husband she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she was a faithful and useful member until translated to the membership in the Church Triumphant. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society and was present at their last meeting, helping on the Epworth League quilt, and asked that one block be marked that she might quilt it, to see how it would look. She was also a faithful member of the Woman's Missionary Society and a member of Corinthian Chapter No. 181, as well as a member of the Woman's Relief Corps and the American Legion Auxiliary.
There is a universal testimony that she was a beloved friend and neighbor always ready to help in time of need. This good woman will be missed not only by her immediate family but by her church and the whole community.
In addition to her immediate family she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Fox, Mrs. Emily Deam and Mrs. Frances Williams, all residing in Ohio.
All her children were present for the funeral with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Frances Wells, who was unable to be present because of illness of one of her children.

Whose love can equal the love of a mother.
Whose the devotion so loyal and true
Who suffers so much with such joy for another
Who worked with such pleasure as mother for you?
You hail with delight the friendships of others,
You revel in love with the sweetheart you've won
Yet when do you find a friendship like mothers'
Unbroken till death calls, and her life work is done.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church, Monday at 2:30 o'clock and was in charge of Rev. H.H. Fowler, the pastor who preached the sermon. The services at the grave were conducted by the officers of the Eastern Star Chapter of which the deceased was a member."
