Our dear mother Ruth E. Glenn passed away Christmas Eve Day, Sunday December 24, at the age of 87 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions, Ravenna, Ohio. Thus her wish was fulfilled to spend this Christmas and all future ones with her beloved husband and dance partner in God’s heavenly kingdom. Ruth was born December 1, 1930 to the late Ted and Anna (Ferguson) Binion. She married the love of her life George W. Glenn on September 2, 1947. Together they raised their 5 children, explored much of the country on many wonderful vacations and cruises, and especially enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing together and all the friendships created. She was a very giving and kind lady. She went out of her way to offer a kind word to everyone she met along with a beautiful smile and a warm hug. She loved all babies and would stop to coax a smile to the faces of the little ones and compliment and encourage their parents. Ruth worked as a volunteer at Ravenna schools, as a cook and pharmacy tech at Triangle Pharmacy, and as cook at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Ruth and George were active members in the Ohio Country and Western Music Association in Akron, OH and travelled throughout the area to enjoy friends and dancing. In addition to her beloved husband George, Ruth was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jamie Marie Scarlett, grandson Jeffrey Glenn Bowdle, sister Mildred Baxter, brothers Roy Binion, and Harry (Bud) Binion. Ruth is survived by her daughters Karen Scarlett of Ravenna, OH, Nancy (Tom) Bowdle of Rootstown, OH, Susan (Bill) Delac of Hermitage, TN, and sons George David (Linda) Glenn of Green Bay, WI, and Dan (Becky) Glenn of Columbus, OH, brothers Ralph Binion, IL, Roger Binion, CO, Pat Binion, AZ, Nancy Jacobson, CO, Evelyn Ryder, IL, Lillian Goodlit, IL, as well as 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Ruth will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her and were involved with her care. The family is extremely grateful to the caring staff of Brookdale Senior Living Solutions and Brookdale Hospice. It was very evident how much Ruth had touched their lives and how they truly loved her and taking care of her. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8pm tonight Wednesday, December 27, 2017 and 10am to time of service at 11am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ravenna, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Ruth’s name to Brookdale Senior Living Solutions, Ravenna, Ohio to aid residents and associates in need.
