Theodore C. "Ted" Avgerinos
Theodore C. "Ted" Avgerinos went to be with his Lord on February 24, 2004 after a brief illness. Ted was born on the Fourth of July, 1927 to George and Helen Avgerinos in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Ted spent most of his life in the Chicago area with the exception of answering the call of duty during WWII when he joined the Army. Ted married June Hutchings on June 8, 1845 and their union produced four children, one of which was killed in action during the Viet Nam war. Ted worked for many years as a stationary engineer in the family owned business, Merchants Towel Service. He later worked as a stationary engineer at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois retiring after 25 years of service. In 1999, Ted, his wife June and only daughter Maureen moved to Colorado Springs to be near his youngest son. Althought his years here were brief, he fell in love with the Colorado Mountains and sunshine. Ted leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 59 years, June, his sons Thomas Michael and Ted, his daughter, Maureen Ann, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, George Richard. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
