The following information was gathered from Peter's State of Montana Certificate of Death:

Peter was born about 1860 in Nova Scotia to George G. and Jane (Kisselpaugh) Carter. The town of Carterville, Montana was named after his father.

He was divorced at the time of his death. Montana County Marriage Records show him marrying Julia K. Kelleher-Hill on December 20, 1920 in Missoula, MT. He was living at 16 N. Washington, Butte, Montana. He was suffering from chronic pulmonary tuberculosis and pneumonia was a contributing factor to his death.

He was buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Butte, MT on March 16, 1929.

(NOTE: His mother's maiden name on the Montana Death Record shows it as Kiselbaum)

Former Wolf Creek Man Dies in Butte

Word was received here yesterday of the death in Butte of Peter M. Carter, a former resident of Wolf Creek. He was 65 years old. He has a number of relatives here.

He came to Montana as a young man from Massachusetts, his birthplace, and lived in Montana up to the time of his death. For a number of years he operated a ranch near Wolf Creek. Until recently he was foreman of a mill in Butte.

Among the surviving relatives are Mrs. Arthus Parsons, Miss Avis Carter and Mrs. Blanch Leggett of Helena, nieces; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Frank Flanders of Butte, and two brothers, George Carter of Los Angeles, and J. W. Carter of Blaine, Mont.
