There is some confusion for me whether this William Byrnes is the same as the William Byrnes buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Minneapolis, along with his wife Catherine Campbell. Burials for St Anthony show a burial for William Byrnes, age 43 years,on Nov. 1, 1867 in Block 70, Lot 8. Records also note the body was moved to St. Mary's on May 18, 1887. That memorial number is #91424264. Unsure if this is the same person or not. Because of the relationship to the civil war and the extensive obituary, I am leaving this page in place as of now. Hopefully I can figure this all out in the future.

CIVIL WAR SOLDIER
Served as 1st Lt. with Minnesota 10th Infantry, Co. K

Obituary:

William N.J. Byrnes, a veteran of the civil war and a man of wide acquaintance among the early residence of Minneapolis, died Wednesday at the Soldiers Home. Mr. Byrnes was employed over 25 years in the dry goods store of Peter O'Connor on Bridge Square, and it was here that his sunny genial disposition won for him many friends. For a number of years past he has lived a quiet and contented life at the Soldiers' home. His last hours were peaceful and he died as he lived, a faithful Catholic.
