Pastor Harry M. Mumper was only four years old when his father died. He was called to the ministry in the Church of God early in life; preaching his first sermon when he was only 16 years old. Harry began his formal ministry in 1928 in Churchtown, Cumberland County, PA., and was ordained in 1933 in Harrisburg. He was called to several churches in York, Cumberland and Lancaster Counties, retiring from the Newville, PA, First Church of God in 1976.

In retirement, Harry took up the hobby of clockmaking. When he was young he learned to repair clocks and had always wanted to build a grandfather clock, but never had the time to do it. With Martha's encouragement, he began work and [by 1990] a beautiful grandfather clock graced their living room.

Harry and Martha were married on 8 April 1927 in Hagerstown, MD. They had no children.
